Tomek Kwiatkowski is from Sanok in Poland. He’s 18 years old and is currently studying at high school. He won both the 1st prize and the young person’s prize in our recent #EULife AppChallenge developer contest. We caught up with him to find out more.
How did you find out about the #EULife AppChallenge?
Actually it was word of mouth! Another developer told me about it
Why did you enter?
There were a few reasons. I’m only 18 years old so I wanted to show what I could do and if, by chance, I won a prize it would look great on my CV. I can’t believe I won!
More than that though the topic is an area of interest for me. I also thought “Why not?”. I had the time to put something together and it was an interesting challenge.
What do you like about the data?
I think just that it’s about real people. It’s not artificial but actually about how we feel as humans. That’s interesting.
How long did it take you to develop your entry?
Hard to say exactly. The whole project was over a month and then I made the video which took me about a day. Quite an interesting process. I hope the UK Data Service develop the application further and it gets used by people. I would love to see that and because it’s a quiz to hear that people are having fun too. This competition will certainly help with my career. Thank you!
