The Smarter AppChallenge was created by the mobile trade association, the GSMA, to help work with developers to raise awareness that good design is better for the device and battery usage as well as the network. In some parts of the world poor design is leading to issues with data usage. Efficient mobile apps improve connectivity, data and power consumption as well as security.
The challenge saw dozens of entries from across the world and the three winners came from South Korea and the Netherlands.
The Smarter AppChallenge was supported by Alex Sinclair, Chief Technology Officer of the GSMA, Dr Terry Ahn, Executive Vide President of KT (Korea Telecom) and Olli Andersson, Head of Smart Lab for Nokia Siemens Networks.
The GSMA represents operators in over 200 countries. Read the full press release here
